The University of Chichester is a thriving higher education institution which was recently recognised as a one of the top-25 universities in the UK (Guardian University Guide 2022). Its origins trace back to 1839 when it was founded as a training college by William Otter, the Bishop of Chichester.
Its students are also among the happiest in the UK, according to the National Student Survey (NSS) 2021 which placed it among the UK’s top 40 for high student-satisfaction.

The University holds a Silver TEF Award. 86 per cent of its research is rated as internationally-renowned by the 2021 Research Excellent Framework (REF). Its key disciplines are in sport, education, creative and digital technologies, and engineering.

Employability is high on its agenda, with nearly 93 per cent of its students finding employment or undertaking further education just six months after graduating. More than half of the University’s student population are the first in their family to attend university, while a third originate from low-income homes earning less than £25,000 a year.

The University is also committed to innovative approaches to widening access to university, including outreach to nearby schools and colleges and alternative routes to higher education, such as degree apprenticeships.

Campuses are based in the city of Chichester and the nearby coastal resort of Bognor Regis which, since 2013, has had nearly £50million invested in its estates and facilities. Bognor Regis is home to the Tech Park, housing all STEM courses. A University film shows how the Tech Park was opened by The Duke and Duchess of Sussex in 2018.

The University is a member of the Cathedrals Group and has a Civic University Agreement in line with the recommendation of the Civic University Commission. Alumni include gold-winning Olympic sailor Saskia Clark and gold-winning Paralympian Emma Wiggs. Find out more at www.chi.ac.uk.
