Celebrating the Success of the Burgess Hill Graduate Apprentices

An Important Step

Steve Willis Training Centres in Burgess Hill celebrated with apprentices, employers and staff at The Kings Centre, Burgess Hill.

It was a great evening celebrating the success of 54 Apprentice Graduates who have completed their apprenticeships as Gas Engineering Operatives or Level 3 Installation and Maintenance Electricians.
We were joined by a host of industry and local representatives celebrating the
apprentices’ achievements. Rebecca Hollamby and Rob Mallender from City & Guilds commended Steve Willis Training Centres for their continued quality training and apprenticeship support and sponsored the Stella Willis Award. John Carter presented the Burgess Hill District Lions Award; Nigel Birch presented the Electrical Apprentice of the Year 2023, sponsored by Contactum, and Worcester Bosch sponsored the Gas Apprentice of the Year.
The evening is also used to fundraise for local charities. To kick off this fundraising, a signed
Brighton & Hove Albion Football Club Shirt, kindly donated by Brighton & Hove FC, was raffled through an independent raffle company. The lucky winner Dan was presented with the framed football shirt the day before by Luke, from our apprenticeship team, well done Dan!

Our Gas Director, Adam Dobson kicked off an auction on the night for a signed Manchester United football. Auction mallet in hand he played employers, families, and staff off against each other raising the stakes. The winning bidder of this signed football went to John, congratulations John!

With great prizes to be had in our raffle, as well as a generous donation from a local company The Ascent Consultancy, the evening raised a total of £4,329 that will be split between Burgess Hill Youth/Young Carers and Young Minds.
It was a pleasure to have Jackie Cooper from Burgess Hill Youth with us for the evening to celebrate. Burgess Hill Mayor, Councillor Janice Henwood and Jennifer O’Grady, from Burgess Hill Town Council also joined in the celebrations as well as Richard Cox from BHBPA.

The closing address was given by Mims Davies MP, echoing fellow speakers and Steve Willis, who told the apprentices that they are the future of their industries and with great careers ahead of them.
