4th XI – earned a creditable draw against Keymer and Hassocks III. Chasing 180-6 set by K&H in the first innings Alec Hepburn carried his bat for a fantastic 96 not out in Hill’s 137-5. Hill slip to fourth but remain undefeated. Scorecard.

Off the pitch

Summer Fayre – We would be grateful if somebody, or a group of people/parents could take ownership of the Club’s ‘stand’ at the Town Fayre this coming Sunday from 11am until 3pm. This was highlighted in last week’s newsletter but to date there have been no volunteers. We have use of the nets and a small area outside the nets to set up some simple coaching games to demonstrate cricket and the club. Geoff Brailey is happy to assist for a couple of hours but is unable to do the entire stint. If somebody does not come forward the nets will be closed, we will not have a stand and will miss out on the opportunity to showcase the club to the Burgess Hill public on our own ground. Please reply to this email if you can support. Thanks in advance.

MacMillan Cancer Support – On Saturday 11th June, our Treasurer Kevin Hale is taking part in the South Coast Mighty Hike in aid MacMillan Cancer Support. The hike is 26.2 miles (marathon distance) from Brighton Racecourse to Eastbourne via the South Downs Way, Birling Gap and the Seven Sisters Country Park. Macmillan Cancer Support has supported both his and his wife’s family through some tough times over recent years, so they wanted to take part in this event to say thank you. Here is a link to their website, if you want to know more about them and what they do… If you wish to sponsor Kevin and support this great charity, please see a link to his JustGiving page Many thanks in advance.
