Trustee Week for Charities

12th-16th November is Trustees Week

Trustees are the people in charge of a charity. They help to make the UK the sixth most giving country in the world.  They play a vital role, volunteering their time and working together to make important decisions about the charity’s work. Trustees come from all walks of life and have a range of skills including HR, IT, business planning and general life experience. Being a trustee gives you the opportunity to help a charity grow  and develop. It also looks good on your CV as it shows that you are using your skills to make a difference in the community.  Paula Nicholson is one of  our trustees. She explains what she gets out of being a trustee of MSVA:

“My career has given me a wealth of experience in dealing with a wide range of people. I have worked in industry, in market research; in the Civil Service running inner city benefit offices and working on policy development for disabled people in the Department of Health; and finally running my own consultancy business. I get great satisfaction using skills learned in the workplace to benefit the voluntary sector  and from working with a great bunch of people”

Trustees’ Week is an annual event to showcase the great work that trustees do and highlight opportunities for people to get involved and make a difference. Most charities have vacancies on their  trustee board. If you want to find out  how you can get involved take a look at the volunteering  page on the MSVA website: www.msva.org.uk
