Travellers Gone

The travellers who visited us for a couple of weeks left last weekend for pastures new, and presumably took the horses with them.

I spoke to Franco Petrazzuolo, Technical Services Manager at CAE this week and he gave me some details about the story. He hadn’t realised that the horses were there on the green space before the main party arrived. On inspecting the site to serve them notice to leave he noticed that the fence was not there. CAE had put in an earth bank and fenced it off with no gate access at all to prevent such incursions.  However, the travellers found a way in when they spotted that the fence had simply disappeared to allow them access to the spot.

This week on Monday morning they noticed that the guests had left and CAE are now clearing up the site and re-securing it.

Franco has also agreed to come along to a members meeting to tell us about the workings of CAE in Burgess Hill, which should be interesting. He confirmed that Easy Jet use them for pilot training and take up three of their thirteen simulators 20 hours per day. A number of other airlines including Virgin Atlantic also use CAE, where training is available for Airbus A320 and A340 and Boeing 747-400. As a result  they have a hundred or more pilots checking in most days for training at their centre on the Victoria Business Park. This of course is very good news for local hotels, restaurants and other businesses.
