On Wednesday this week we held a Members Meeting at The King’s Centre, to which 28 people came along. It was a dismal day of rain and gloom, but the attendance was once again impressive and the meeting positively bubbling with pleasantries.
We heard two presentations; the first concerned partnership working between business and charities. Catherine Pardoe from Hamsva (Horsham & Mid Sussex Voluntary Action) explained how businesses and charities can work together for benefits to both parties, and Stuart Sutherland of Charity Line and Nova Direct Mail produced some very good examples of such interaction.
The second presentation by Paula, of On The Spot Tax, consisted of an excellent role play, two women meeting in the pub and discussing changes in bills and expenses caused by changes in tax laws. Within the drama we found out about recent changes from the last budget.
Before and after the presentations there was a very pleasant buzz of networking, as business folk chatted and met up again with local contemporaries. It was long after 6pm when the last group left, and everyone seemed pleased to have come along to end their working day in this fashion.
Our grateful thanks go to The King’s Centre for providing such pleasant facilities and refreshments for us.
