The Big Give – support our local hospice

Each year St Peter & St James Hospice  submit a project to the Big Give, outlining an important area of our hospice services for which we would like to secure funding.  This year, our chosen project is focused on helping local businesses better support bereaved employees.  Through working with our Wellbeing Services, we will help develop positive bereavement practices and give the opportunity to offer employees access to counselling & wellbeing information. This service will help employees at a very difficult time, supporting their wellbeing and bereavement process, and can also have benefits for the employer through lower levels of absenteeism or performance issues linked to bereavement.

Our application is currently being reviewed by the Big Give, and we will find out at the beginning of October whether or not our application has been successful. In order to potentially be successful, we need to have secured £5,000 in pledged money by the 28th August.  This money forms the basis of our ‘pledge pot’, and if we are successful, a Big Give Champion funder will also add money to our pledge pot, to form our matched funding amount, and so far we have pledges to the tune of £1,850, so we still need £3,150.

This pledge pot is used to encourage donors to give during the Big Give Christmas Challenge which runs from 1st to 8th December. All donations given online during this time will be doubled, using the pledge pot money which has been donated in advance.

Please complete the online pledge form and return it to us by 10th August  at the latest:

If you are able to pledge, and would be happy to, we would publish the company name in a press release and other advertising streams as well as offering the company the opportunity  to be involved in the Big Give project.

Any pledge you do choose to make will be collected after the Big Give Christmas Challenge finishes on 8th December, at this stage is it simply a pledge promise for later in the year.  In order to fulfil your pledge, you are welcome to write a post-dated cheque  (dated 15th December 2020) or you can give online or via bank transfer later in the year.  Please note the minimum amount is a pledge of £100 and the maximum is £5,000.  Please do feel free to contact Wendy Agate at St Peter & St James with any questions or to talk this through.
