Summer Ball Fundraiser for CT

My name is Sam and I am writing to you today from a local charity I work for as an apprentice called CT Sussex that helps disadvantaged people by providing much needed transport to prevent them becoming isolated.

We are a local community transport charity, comprising 3 individual charities, Crawley Community Transport, Bluebird Community Partnership and Horsham District Community Transport. Our charities help those that are in need of accessible transport, whether it be because of age, sickness, disability, poverty, or a lack of adequate and safe public transport in their area. We help disabled children get to school; we give the elderly a way to get to their doctors for medication, to the shops to buy groceries, to visit friends and family, or even to attend a social club or group. Our aim is to help give locals their freedom and independence, and provide them with a safe and secure way of getting to wherever they may need to go. Our wheelchair adapted minibuses assist parents in taking their disabled children out for the day, and offers seniors a reliable, secure travel option. Our passengers range from children as young as 4 with complex needs, to one of our regular travellers who is an incredible 103 years old. Last year alone we completed over 110,000 passenger journeys and without our services, everyone who travels on our buses would become more secluded, or forced to use private hire vehicles; at a much higher cost to themselves or the local authorities.

Although Community Transport Sussex has been supported by some grant funding and the amazing generosity of past donations since our original charity began 16 years ago, it is becoming more and more difficult to secure the same level of grant funding we were receiving previously, and there are still many areas where these services are not readily available. In order to reach out to more individuals in need, and keep our services going, we have been developing Community Transport Sussex to become more self-sustainable. We are some way to reaching our goal of full sustainability but need to focus on additional fundraising to help us achieve this.

We are kick starting this by holding our first big fundraiser in the form of a summer ball. It will be held on 6th July at Effingham Park Hotel, Copthorne. The night is a 007 style evening and will include a three course meal, casino, live music (including Bond theme songs), a raffle and an auction. We have holidays, a yacht charter in Mallorca, bottle of House of Commons scotch and more all up for auction, as well as a spa voucher, hotel stay and meal for 2 at a London restaurant in our raffle. It promises to be a perfect evening! Tickets are £35 each or £325 for a table of 10 for the whole evening.

We would be so delighted to have you along on the night! I have attached our poster and wondered if you would also be able to mention the event in your next newsletter to your members? The more people we can reach the more awareness we can raise for our cause and we would be very grateful for your help.

If there is anything I can help with please let me know.

I look forwards to hearing from you soon.

Kind regards
