Skills Based Volunteering – BHBPA Event

Skills Based Volunteering – BHBPA Event

An opportunity for businesses large and small to find out more about meaningful engagement with our local charity sector

Charity Roundtable (Autumn Edition)
Tuesday 16th September 10.00-12.00 noon

The event will be held at Edwards Vacuum, Burgess Hill

We have a guest speaker from Crawley who will explain more about an innovative  programme, part funded by the National Lottery and the Postcode Lottery that is currently operating as a pilot programme on the Manor Royal.

The aim is to map what businesses would like to help charities with and what charities want help with. The objective is to map these better together, do things differently and make better use of the ‘Volunteer days’ that invariably larger businesses offer their staff.

To give an example of this, just three large businesses on the Manor Royal offer 3,000 volunteer workdays EVERY year. That is a lot of skilled talent that could be used in many ways with our local charities.

BHBPA will be looking to pilot this scheme in Mid Sussex in the next 6-12 months. Our association has the support of many multi-nationals based in the town.

We are looking for representatives from ALL large members and from any businesses which consider ESG / CSR initiatives an important part of their company ethos to come along to this event and find out more.

The importance of CSR / ESG
For any business tendering for business with any large organisation, for example the NHS or a national library/museum, questions will be asked about your ESG footprint.

Our aim is to better facilitate that for our members and greatly benefit our local charities in the process.
Our speaker
Daran Bennett is co-founder and CEO of The RPD Foundation (RPDF) a charity built on three pillars.

-Driving its co-founder Richard Place Dobson (local accountancy practice) own community aims and CSR
-Providing support to charity sector organisations around strategy, financial management and operational activities
-Creating more meaningful and impactful relationships between the Charity and Corporate sectors.
Daran will be joining the roundtable to talk about a CSR Brokerage Project that aligns to RPD Foundations third pillar and for which over the last couple of years, they have been working closely with partners Manor Royal BID (MRBD) and Crawley Community Action (CCA) exploring and developing an initiative to create a brokerage service that solves the challenges faced by both sectors.
