As expected, Leylands Road continues to operate with contra flow traffic lights installed either side of the Wivelsfield Station bridge, although inconvenient and slow in the rush hour, this route into town is just about coping.
Looking at week commencing Monday 20th, compared with recent weeks, things don’t look too bad. According to the One.Network web site, the planned ‘red’ dot roadworks are as follows:
- Leylands Road – Network Rail – ongoing 2 way traffic control through to 31st January
- Gordon Road closure at Leylands Road – UK Power Networks with detour – unlikely to have much effect other than on residents of Gordon Road
- Victoria Gardens – Southern Water – multi way signals on 21st & 22nd January to replace damaged manhole frame & cover
- Marchants Way – Southern Gas Networks, continuation of work in progress which started on 7th, but now extended from 24th January to 31st January
The Network Rail works at Wivelsfield Station are expected to continue until end February, yet the impact on Leylands Road is indicated as only through until 31st January. Hopefully, full clarity on when the road will be back to normal will be come soon.
