Further to yesterday’s update, as people living relatively close to the site of the embankment repairs will be able to hear, work is continuing over the weekend. Apparently the licence to complete the works, which is impacting Leylands Road, obliges Network Rail to work during the night and at weekends between 7am and 9pm.
According to a Network Rail letter dated 30 December 2019 (signed by Paula Williams, Community Relations – Kent & Sussex Routes) and attached to the parameter fencing around the site, the embankment has been degraded by extensive burrowing by rabbits.
The letter also says that Network Rail’s work is due to be completed by 9th January – which is at odds with what is implied on the One.Network map as per yesterdays update. I have contacted Network Rail today and asked for their latest estimated end date via the their Helpline on 03457 11 41 41 – case reference 200105-000083. I will advise further when`I know more.
