1st XI – home game against Steyning was rained off before a ball was bowled.
In the semi-final of the White Hart Cup Hill came off second best against the hosts Henfield. Hill bowled first, dismissing Henfield for just 99 but came unstuck in the second innings falling 15 runs short. Scorecard.
2nd XI – also succumbed to the weather away at St James at the weekend. Hill batted first scoring 167 all out with Aaron Barnes scoring 52 but at tea the rains came and no further play was possible. Scorecard.
3rd XI – secured a full 30 points away to Preston Nomads 4th XI. Bobby Barnes took 4-56 and Dan Rapson 3-45 as Hill bowled out Nomads for 124. Steve Cromb then struck 54 as Hill had little difficulty chasing to win by six wickets. Scorecard.
4th XI – lost to East Grinstead by 70 runs. Bowling first Hill restricted Grinstead to only 131, Tom Booth staring with the ball taking 4-14. Unfortunately the batting was less impressive as Hill fell to 61 all out. Scorecard.
Girls Under 11 – pride of place at the top of the news this week goes to the Girls Under 11 team for a wonderful achievement on Sunday winning the Lady Taverners Tournament at the County Ground Hove. Four consecutive wins over Hurstpierpoint, Cuckfield, Brighton and Hove and Bells Yew Green was enough to bring home the silverware! A full report and picture can be found here. Boys Under 15 – lost to St Peters by just two wickets in a close game. Tom Cooper hit 27 not out in Hill’s total of 81-8 but they were unable to defend it despite taking regular wickets as St Peters won by two wickets in 13 overs. Scorecard.
Boys Under 14 – also lost a close game to league leaders Preston Nomads. Hill scored 66-9 in their allotted overs, Leon Craggs top scoring with 23. In reply Nomads won with 11 balls to spare seven wickets down. Harrison Lees taking 3-7. Report.
Boys Under 14b – lost to St Matthias who scored 177-5 batting first. The total was always going to be tough to chase and so it proved as St Matthias bowled well to keep Hill to 60-9. Scorecard.
Boys Under 12 – What Jack Smart started (19) Iziah Alexander-Price finished (28 not out) and with their partners Hill scored a good total against tricky bowling. Once Hill managed to limit their generosity and enthusiasm in the field, wickets started to fall, including a great catch by Thomas Ashdown. The Poynings captain took the game all the way but Hill earned the win at the very end. Scorecard.
Boys Under 10 – beat Bolney by 27 runs on Saturday. Hill scored 109-3 (net 294) as Glen MacDougall scoring 8 runs and Louis Harcourt 11. In the second innings wickets were shared around as Bolney scored 87-4 (net 267). Report.
Boys Under 9 – lost to St James by only 21 runs. Positives to take from the game were a number of the boys ended not out when batting, Jake Armstrong took two wickets and Onubhab Hossain secured a wicket maiden. Full report.

Social – Mexican Night is just around the corner. The evening will be held on 9th July and we ask that if you plan on attending the evening you let us know, either by replying to this email, contacting us through the event page on Facebook or just speaking with a member of the committee. Food costs £7.50 and will be provided by local restaurant Spiral, there will be Mexican music, prizes for the best fancy dress, Mexican cocktails and music and for the kids a Pinata. Furthermore the Hot Chili eating competition will return from last year. Come and have a go if you think you can handle the heat! Sign up here if you want to take part.
Sussex CCC Roadshow – Last year the Sussex CCC Roadshow was so successful, with over 30 children attending, that the club are running it again this season. It will take place on Monday 25th July in St John’s Park from 10am to 3pm. A fantastic day of fun filled cricket games and adventure for girls and boys ages 7 – 12. You can secure your child’s place by booking on line here. SCCC and BHCC bring fun filled activities to SJP, led by fully qualified Sussex Cricket coaches and brand new inflatable equipment, to ensure the event will be even better than last year’s holiday camp.
Youth Presentation Evening – will be held on Friday the 22nd July, the last school day of the Summer term starting at 4.30pm. Please reserve this date in your diary. The evening will be a Festival of Cricket, with games, prize giving, a raffle and a barbeque. Full details of the evening will be announced shortly. Any help from parents with donating raffle prizes and helping on the evening with the barbeque and the bar would be greatly appreciated. Please let us know if you can assist us. Youth Coaching – this year, please be aware that although due to holidays, numbers attending coaching are lower in the school summer break, we do intend to continue youth cricket coaching on Friday evenings for 3 or 4 weeks beyond the Presentation Evening into August, so that the boys and girls can enjoy their game and continue to develop and progress. We will confirm these arrangements shortly.

When shopping online, by accessing a retailers site through EasyFundraising, the club receive donations. Rye Cricket Club have raised over £6,000 in the last two years through this means. Travel, Holidays, Insurance, Clothes, Furniture and for those with businesses, items such as stationery can be purchased through mainstream retailers such as M&S, Thomas Cook, Next, Amazon, Tesco with the Club receiving commission retrospectively. The price of items to the members remains exactly the same
