| A few words from this year’s winning STEM Ambassador “Taking part in Mid-Sussex Science Week as a STEM Ambassador was a really valuable experience. As someone just starting my career, it really helped me gain and develop skills that are important and gave me the opportunity to inspire the next generation of scientists & engineers. The children were very excited to take part in the week and it was great to see their different ideas for their marble run mechanisms, ranging from conveyor belts to pulley systems to wheels. They got stuck into planning their ideas straight away and thinking about the forces behind each section of their marble runs. Spending time at the school gave me insight into the children’s perspective on STEM: how they solve problems, what challenges them, and what they find the most fun, which is so important to be able to encourage STEM from a younger age. The finals day was amazing as it had such a range of companies to show the scope of STEM in the real world, as well as the chance to see the projects that the other schools had completed. My team worked so hard to understand and make their marble runs and I’m so proud to have won the competition this year.
