Time 4 Children
Time 4 Children is a registered charity based in Haywards Heath, dedicated to improving the emotional wellbeing and mental health of primary school-aged children across Mid Sussex.
We provide free weekly one-to-one Emotional Listening Support sessions for children experiencing emotional difficulties arising from challenges such as family breakdown, bereavement, domestic abuse, special educational needs, anxiety, bullying, or drug and alcohol misuse within the family.
Our sessions take place in primary schools throughout Mid Sussex and are delivered by a team of highly trained Volunteer Practitioners. Using reflective listening and non-directive play techniques, we provide children with a safe, confidential space to express their thoughts and feelings. This early intervention helps children build confidence, resilience, self-esteem and emotional wellbeing.
Children are referred to our service by schools, West Sussex County Council Early Help, and GPs. The service is completely free for both families and schools thanks to the generosity of our funders, donors and supporters.
All Volunteer Practitioners complete an intensive 50-hour face-to-face training programme, undertake NSPCC child protection training, receive regular supervision, and hold enhanced DBS checks. We recruit and train new volunteers annually, with our training course usually beginning each September.
At Time 4 Children, we believe that supporting children early, when they first begin to struggle emotionally, can help prevent more serious mental health difficulties developing later in life.
Whether you're looking to support a local charity, volunteer your time, fundraise, or learn more about our work, we'd love to hear from you.
