1st XI – extended their lead at the top with an excellent six wicket win over second place Haywards Heath. Jack Simpson laid the foundation for victory with figures of 6-35 and he was at it again with the bat in the second innings cracking 65 in 64 balls. Zain Patel finished 30 not out and Ben Hopkins 25 not out. Report.
2nd XI – moved back to the top of the table themselves with victory over Haywards Heath II. Heath batted very well to score a formidable 255-7 but it’s testament to the groundstaff, who produced a belter, that Hill chased to win by seven wickets inside only 43 overs as Shaun Kevern and Daniel Yates scored 104 and 98 not out respectively. Report.
3rd XI – had no fixture this weekend.
4th XI – lost by only 16 runs to Lingfield V. Lewis Mamoany took 3-25 and Tom Booth 3-54 as Lingfield scored 185-8 aided by 104 not out from opener Aldrich. Lewis Mamoany then followed his performance with the ball to score 56 and give Hill hope but they fell just short despite 27 not out from Ben McNiven batting at 10. Scorecard.
Boys Under 16 – lost by five wickets to Portslade. Hill scored 100-5, Dan Austin top scoring with 29. The game went right to the wire but Portslade got over the line with two balls spare and five wickets in the hutch. Scorecard.
Boys Under 14 – had a disappointing result at home to St Peters losing by three runs. Joe Smith took 3-8 and Lewis Mamoany 3-13 as St Peters were restricted to only 77-9. Despite 32 not out from Martyn Box Hill were unable to chase and fell agonisingly close. Report
Boys Under 12 – had no fixture this week but we do have a report for their final home game of the season where they lost by five wickets to league leaders Hurstpierpoint. Adam Drew top scored with 14 as Hill set 76-7 but Hurst knocked off the runs inside 16 overs. Report.
Boys Under 10 – beat Brighton and Hove by 46 runs at the weekend. B&H batted first and scored 58-8 (net 218). The wickets were spread around but Jack MacDonald’s 2-1 from 12 balls were particularly impressive. In reply Hill were comfortable victors at 109-9 (net 264) as MacDonald scored 16 and Glenn MacDougall 15. Report.
Boys Under 9s – lost to St Matthias by just 13 runs. Hayden Wickwar took four wickets as St Matthias scored 68-9 (net 223). Unfortunately they couldn’t quite get past St Matthias’ total ending 55-9 (net 210). Oli O’Riordan top scored with eight. Report.
