Great Reception at Porsche

Our latest event took place on Wednesday this week, when 36 members and friends turned up at Porsche Mid Sussex and had a very enjoyable time. After a drink on arrival, we went into the main showroom to listen to Andrew Crabb, the General Manager.  He spoke for 15 minutes about the history of the company, the state of the business and the costs and value of owning a Porsche. The company began trading in Burgess Hill in 2003, after a spell under another motor banner  in Portslade. They bought a piece of land from CAE and have gradually developed the business.  In 2003 they sold just two different models, whereas Porsche has developed a large range of models now.  Porsche in Britain sell around 13,000 cars a year, and of course many more are leased; indeed, leasing is much more common these days as younger people see the chance of driving a Porsche on a monthly payment. Porsche are very well advanced in developing electric cars too.

After looking around the beautiful, sleek Porsche machines in the showroom, and deciding which one we would buy given other circumstances, we then were able to tuck into some seriously delicious food cooked and prepared for us by Tatjana Keenan of Indigo Events. 07944 977691. Lots of networking was happening, and I chatted at length to one member who was very concerned about the implications of Brexit and the potentially major effects it might have on his business. All those who deal in exporting are sure to be worried and very few will commit to any major business decisions until there is some certainly.

Porsche provided the drinks, and the networking went on long after the suggested finish time. meanwhile, around 12 people went out on test drives. All the ones I spoke to came back thrilled by the cars they had driven.

As the meeting drew to a close I managed to get a photo of ‘two Neil Taylors’ – incredibly, two of the guys there were thus named! Neither had ever met someone with the same name before.

Many thanks to all those who came, thanks too to Andrew and his team at Porsche for hosting so splendidly and thanks to Tats for the food. It really was a pleasure to chat with so many lovely people.  Many thanks for your support of the BHBPA. Hope to see you at the next event.
