Great connections from across Sussex

Great connections from across Sussex

Last week we saw a huge turnout of visitors at Burgess Hill Means Business

Organised by Burgess Hill Business Parks Association (BHBPA), this biennial Expo brought together 65 exhibitors, including some of the town’s largest manufacturers, such as Time24 and HPC. The Ridgeview Wine Estate was also exhibiting as were other medium, small and micro businesses operating in a wide variety of sectors. From construction and facilities management to professional services, hospitality, chiropractic services, wellbeing, proof reading, intellectual property, vehicle wrapping, training companies, business coaches, distillers, insurance brokers, corporate finance, local radio and many others. The event was made possible by the generous support of our headline sponsors: HSEnergy Group.

All the Sussex universities together with the Chichester College Group were on hand to explain more about their programmes offering degree apprenticeships. Several prominent local charities were there to share their impact in the community as were two of our local Special Educational Needs (SEN) schools, Woodlands Meed and LVS Hassocks, looking to help improve the job outcomes of their students. There were also small contingents of pupils visiting from the area’s local secondary schools, finding out more about the great job opportunities available in the town.
The event was officially opened by Alison Bennett, MP for Mid Sussex who commented:
“It was a real pleasure to attend the Burgess Hill Means Business Expo last week, meet local business and community leaders, and see firsthand the innovation that is happening on our doorstep, evident through the diversity and vibrancy of Burgess Hill’s business landscape. Burgess Hill has so much more potential to unlock, and we must continue to invest in our town, its people and our future.
The Expo was a clear reminder of what we can achieve together when we combine corporate interests with socially conscious goals, and the power of connecting and collaborating to champion local success.”

Richard Cox, the Chief Executive of BHBPA, explained that this vibrant local business association has seen exceptional growth over the last four years, fuelled much by its very clear mandate and sense of purpose, engaging it’s members directly with the local community. There are numerous schools outreach programmes and the association has been instrumental in making improvements to the local business environment. New members join to be part of this collaborative approach to making Burgess Hill a great place to live and to work, as the CEO commented:
“Burgess Hill Business Parks Association has, through funding sourced through its members, provided close to £60,000 to a number of educational initiatives in the past year alone. We’re also helping to shift the dial in improving the job outcomes of young people coming out of our local SEN colleges and we’re working collaboratively on a variety of sustainability programmes. In addition to all this, the association recently submitted plans to resolve parking issues across Victoria Business Park, the largest business park in Mid Sussex.”
