On Monday this week members and friends gathered for the last time this year at the Woolpack. The objectives were several; we wanted to celebrate Christmas, we wanted to raise some money for St Peter & St James Hospice and we wanted to show our thanks to Paul Shearing, the outgoing Chairman of the BHBPA.
Around 40 people showed up for a drink and a chat, and most were enticed by the delicious sausage rolls and mince pies laid on by Lance, the Landlord. As for the atmosphere, it was delightful as friends chatted around the bar under the Christmas decorations. Lance told me that one hundred hours of staff time had gone into putting them up, and they are magnificent.
The Coordinator of the BHBPA said a few words of praise and thanks to Paul Shearing for his efforts over the last three years, before presenting him with a splendid tankard which will be a permanent reminder of his time as Chairman.
Two raffle prizes were drawn and the winners, Richard Strange of Travel Counsellors and Steve Willis of Steve Willis Training, went home with a well stocked hamper from Ridgeview Wine Estate. I have to say that it was very pleasant to have the time to be able to chat effortlessly over a drink with so many interesting members.
Thanks to all those who made the effort to come along and help make it a successful event.
