Burgess Hill Company Embraces Wear It Pink Day
Bio-Productions, a market leading manufacturing company based in Burgess Hill is widely respected for the dedicated way in which it looks after its team with an approach to staff relationships that goes way beyond the usual HR boundaries.
Typical of this special company culture is Bio-Production’s whole company support of Wear it Pink Day. One of the biggest fundraising events in the UK, WIP Friday on the 19 October saw thousands of supporters wearing it pink in their communities, schools or work places for Breast Cancer Now, the UK’s largest breast cancer charity, that has raised more than £31.5 million for life-saving research since its beginnings in 2002.
A much-loved senior member of the Bio-Productions team is currently going through treatment for breast cancer and so her colleagues decided to support her and the event by collectively coming to work dressed in a variety of shocking pink costumes. Invited to judge the competition, she struggled to select the best dressed staff member and so awarded Human Resources Manager Sara Gibb, Sales Administrator Morwenna Bunt, Maintenance Manager Harry Jones, Line Supervisor Olga Cepukoit-Kulmatytska and Mixer Tom Wlodarski a duvet day off of their choice. Despatch department team Tim Minchin and Jim Shirley, as an inseparable unit, were awarded half a day each!
MD Angela Gill said, “I am delighted that without any urging from the senior team everyone in the company responded to the call – I came to work in carefully selected layers of pink, looking pretty outrageous so was slightly put out that a neighbour greeted me getting into my car with his standard ‘Good morning’!
The company has an impressive record of team involvement in charity events ranging from sponsored walks to creating a special hydrotherapy pool for an injured dog.
