BHCC Winter Nets

Youth winter nets commence on Sunday 29th January at Hurst College from 2.00 pm until 5.00 pm. They will continue through to Sunday April 7th. Because the school use the Sports Hall for exams there will be no nets on Sundays 5th and 19th February. There will be a total of 8 weeks of coaching and we have booked 4 lanes of nets which should enable us to make use of the sports hall for fielding and catching practice. There will be no separate charge for attending these nets as the cost is covered in the annual membership fee.

U11s – U15s (this seasons age groups)

For the Sunday afternoon sessions we are proposing the following times and lane net allocations for the boys and girls, based on their age groups for this coming season. These, we believe, use the optimum allocation of time and coaching resources whilst balancing out the numbers of youngsters in each age group. The timetable for youth sessions by age group is below.

2.00 pm – 3.00 pm          3.00 pm – 4.00 pm          4.00 pm – 5.00 pm

Lane 1 & 2          Lane 3 & 4          Lane 1 & 2          Lane 3 & 4          Lane 1 & 2          Lane 3 & 4

U11 Boys             U11 Girls             U12 Boys             U13 Boys             U14,15 Boys       U13, 15 Girls

Within these groups and timings, any U10 boys who are considered by their manager and their parents to be competent and safe to play hard ball cricket will be invited to attend the U11 session from 2.00 – 3.00 pm. Those U15 boys who already regularly play adult cricket have the option to attend the evening adult net sessions instead of the afternoon one. Their managers will contact them to confirm this and we believe it will be more beneficial for them to do this.

U10s and Younger (this seasons age groups)

  1. a)            For those boys who are U10 and younger this coming season, we have again booked Oakmeeds gym on Tuesday evenings from 6.00 – 8.00 pm for softball practice and coaching. These sessions will be again be run by Alan Perrin the Sussex CCC coach and are guaranteed to be great fun. The sessions commence on Tuesday the 7th Feb and continue every week up to the 4th of April. Steve Kaye, last season’s U9 manager, will be in contact with everyone to confirm things.

  1. b)            We have also booked Wednesday evenings from 6.00 – 7.00 pm for the very youngest children (U8s and younger) who started with us last year. The Wednesday sessions commence on the 8th February and continue until April 5th. We are again coaching in Burgess Hill primary schools in late Jan and early February and we will be inviting those children attending their school sessions to come along to the Wednesday evenings. We already are aware that some of our younger members are down to attend these school sessions.

Adult, U16s & U15s (this seasons age groups)

Adult nets commence on Sunday evenings between 7.00 pm and 9.00 pm at Hurst College commencing on the 29th January and we have booked four lanes this year. We anticipate that these will be allocated as lane 1 for the 1st XI with lanes 2 & 3 for adults, U16s and U15s and with lane 4 for ladies provided they wish to come along to nets. Otherwise this lane will be utilised by the U16s and U15s.
