THE BHBPA AWESOME AUTUMN BATTLE OF THE BAKES
In support of St Peter & St James Hospice
Wednesday 30 October, 12 noon at The King’s Centre Home Coffee House, Victoria Road.
Without doubt the nation has fallen in love with The Great British Bake Off. As a result baking has risen in popularity and sparked a plethora of local bake off competitions in its wake.
We know our business community includes many talented bakers and this will give you all a chance to bake up a storm. The icing on the cake being it’s all for a worthwhile cause. And, as you’ll probably know, doing good makes you feel good!
The BHBPA Awesome Autumn Battle Of The Bakes will ride on the wave of this 21st century tradition and is a great opportunity for colleagues to get together to share tips and delicious treats, network, build teams and do some good at the same time.
Contestants will be able to conquer beating, creaming, dusting, dredging and folding as they boil, toss, stir and whip their way to baking success!
The competition is the brainchild of Bio-Productions, our own environmentally-friendly manufacturer based on Victoria Road. The team are past-masters of community-based charity events and often include bake sales in their fundraising efforts.
All you have to do is:
Bake an array of autumn-themed goodies – be inspired by russet reds, burnished browns and fiery oranges, flavours of toffee apples, pumpkins cranberries and cloves and graphic leaf designs or freestyle your own take on autumn.
Competitors must belong to a company that is a member of BHBPA
Entry fee is £2 per entry
There are two categories:
- Decorated Large Cake/Small Cakes
- Decorated Cookies/Biscuits
Entries will be judged by a representative of Burgess Hill based Lizzie’s Food Factory and a local dignitary.
Winners in each category will receive a prize
On judgement day, contestants will drop off their entries during the morning. Judging will take place at 12 Noon and then the cakes will be divided up and sold for charity. Coffees, teas and snacks can also be purchased at the King’s Centre Home Coffee Shop to accompany the cakes or slices can be taken home.
