Learn new skills! Become a School Governor
Would you like to develop skills in strategic thinking, budgeting and engaging with stakeholders? Would you like to be more involved with your local community?
We have volunteering opportunities at the Gattons Infant School for School Governors. Governors act like a Board of Directors and are involved in activities such as setting the aims and objectives of the school, monitoring and evaluating school progress and overseeing the school budget. Governors are not responsible for the day-to-day running of the school.
Our governing body is composed of 12 governors and the time commitment is around 5-10 hours per term which involves attending 2-3 meetings, visiting the School and background reading for meetings. You don’t need to have any specific skills as each governor brings different experiences and skills to the role. We will provide you with training and guidance to help you develop into the role. All you need is a keen mind and a desire to ask challenging questions in the interest of improving the educational experience of our children.
The key benefits to you are the development of new and existing skills, plus being able to support your local community.
If you would like to know more about what’s involved or how to apply, please contact the Chair of Governors, Julie Voce, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All members of the governing body are subject to a DBS check.
