The champions from last year, a composite team calling themselves ‘ I’ll Get You Butler’, returned on Tuesday to defend their title. They and another 18 teams from companies around the business parks of Burgess Hill enjoyed a terrific evening at the Woolpack, which ended with a tie for first place on 67 points between ‘Donkeys’ , The St Peter & St James Hospice team, and ‘ We Don’t Care’, from Plumpton College.
Scoring was impressively high, and it was a very close finish between six or more teams. Thanks go to the quizmaster, Dan, for his excellent control of the proceedings and also for his ability to swerve around several of the more challenging team names he had to read out after each round! Some of the crowd had chosen to eat beforehand, while others chose to go with the pub snacks later, but all seemed to enjoy the good feeling and warmth which filled the pub all evening. No doubt a couple of beverages also helped in that regard.
When the raffle prizes were drawn in the interval, and the lucky winners picked up their impressive prizes, we totalled up the level of generosity and it came to an amazing £600, and at the end we were able to announce that it would be donated to the hospice of St Peter & St James. So a huge well done to all who gathered for the quiz, and a mighty thank you to Lance and Dee and their staff at the Woolpack, for their efficiency and their generosity in hosting the evening.
