Tables – Fixtures
First XI – lost by three wickets in the final over at Roffey. Tom Penfold hit a brilliant 64 in tough batting conditions as Hill posted a respectable 180 all out in the final over. In reply early wickets restricted Roffey, with returning Ian Simpson taking three as Hill looked set to win at 73-6. But Roffey rallied and a combination of good batting, dropped catches and a short boundary led to Roffey hitting 17 from their final 10 deliveries to seal victory by three wickets with two balls spare. Report.
Second XI – were frustrated at home to Seaford. Akeem Ifill was the star with the bat, hitting 98 in Hill’s 201 all out. Seaford started strongly but were never up with the rate and shut-up shop eight wickets down, finishing 157-8.
Third XI – lost to Hurstpierpoint 1st XI at the weekend. Bowling first Hill struggled to take wickets as Hurst declared 215-6. Hill’s response started well as they reached 70-1 but it quickly collapsed to just 119 all out. Report.
Fourth XI – a spirited understrength 4th XI narrowly lost a low scoring game against Roffey IV. Hill batted first and scored 68 all out. It was nearly enough but Roffey won seven wickets down in the 27th over. Ollie Read taking 3-13.
Midweek T20 XI – got their Henfield Cup campaign off to a good start with a 33 run win over Keymer & Hassocks. Kev Ramsay scored 64 in Hill’s total of 168-7. Peter Billinghay then took 2-14 and Joe Maskell 3-30 as K&H were all out for 135 despite former Hillian Nathan Cooper hitting 57.
Sunday Select – beat Poynings Development XI by 60 runs thanks in the main to a fantastic 102 not out from Martyn Box. Hill set 195-6 and then bowled Poynings out for 135. Lewis Mamoany taking 3-12. Report.
