SO LONG SANTA! AM&M TAKES THE REINS TO DELIVER CAFOD CHRISTMAS GIFTS
Forget Father Christmas, direct mailing company AM&M is delivering the presents this year – on behalf of Catholic international development charity, CAFOD.
The Burgess-Hill based company secured a contract to print and send items purchased through the charity’s World Gifts campaign. The initiative offers the opportunity to buy virtual and ethical presents that transform the lives of poor communities and families in developing countries.
AM&M and CAFOD have enjoyed a strong relationship since 2008, but recently implemented a new print-on-demand strategy to cut costs, prevent wastage and improve efficiency.
Printing was previously undertaken by an outside agency and sent to AM&M’s warehouse. Stock was then picked to fulfil orders and despite best efforts to avoid wastage, any residual supplies were left to be recycled.
“By changing to print-on-demand, CAFOD only orders from AM&M as and when we need to,” said Chris Funnell, head of supporter donations for the charity. “This shift reflects CAFOD’s ongoing commitment to sustainability and promoting good stewardship.”
The charity will particularly benefit from the strategy during emergency appeals, with print-on-demand allowing them to maximise fundraising efforts by printing tailored artwork at short notice.
Alix Bell, general manager of AM&M, said, “Printing-on-demand gives companies real flexibility – it enables them to quickly respond to day-to-day business, and even create bespoke content for their customers.
“It’s taken our relationship with CAFOD to the next level,” Alix continued. “It’s removed any guesswork and risk, and we’re very excited about where we can take them next.”
