I am delighted to welcome American Express into our membership network as a long-standing employer in Burgess Hill and active member of the local community. American Express has held offices in Burgess Hill for over 40 years and now has over 1,000 colleagues based in the town supporting global technology, finance and business functions, to name a few.
American Express was established in 1850 as a freight forwarding company and introduced its first charge card in 1950 offering customers a new and convenient way to pay. It has been innovating card products, services and other offerings ever since. Today, American Express is the largest global payments network and continues to pride itself on being forward-looking and customer-focused.
Nigel Greenwood, who I have known for many years, has agreed to be our principal point of contact. Nigel is the senior leader for the Technology organisation in Sussex House and he and I will manage the relationship between American Express and BHBPA.
