BHBPA Co-Ordinator

With effect from January 2020 the BHBPA Co-ordinator is Martyn Carr. The Co-ordinator is a part-time paid role and is the primary point of contact on behalf of the Association.

Prior to his appointment, Martyn enjoyed a long, varied and interesting corporate career and understands the importance of a strong, vibrant and prosperous business-led economy.

He fully appreciates the buzz from achieving goals in the business setting – especially things that make a positive difference to the lives of people.

Martyn and his wife moved to Burgess Hill in 1995 when he joined American Express. He has three, now adult, children who were all educated locally and in 2019 he became a grandfather of two beautiful granddaughters. He now feels this is the right stage of his life to devote more time to supporting our town and especially the business community.

The focus of the Co-ordinator role includes:

  • Facilitating the resolution of any common issues impacting the Burgess Hill business parks
  • Helping to drive improvements across the business parks
  • Being a focal point for communication about BHBPA matters
  • Channel and promote the “voice of business” for Burgess Hill companies and local business community
  • Sustain relationships with local authorities, other relevant public bodies and interest groups in the area.
  • Facilitate networking between members and relevant other parties
  • Identify & develop sources of funding for priority causes supported by the Association

"This association was started with a lot of effort from a few local businessmen and has proved to be a very powerful and useful tool for our business. The BHBPA has influence at the top level; when action is needed, the BHBPA gets it done. We are kept in touch with all that is happening on our doorstep and will often act because of what is published in the weekly emails / newsletters."
