ABCOM joined Burgess Hill Community Radio as they launched their first transmission on our airwaves on Saturday 27th October at precisely 10:38 (see what they did there ?) with a live launch celebrating the new station announcing itself to the local community.
We joined the Mayor Councillor Chris Cherry and the team to press the button to switch the transmitter on.
The radio station is a not for profit CIC and raises income through advertising, sponsorship and fund raising.
ABCOM IT services donated a server computer to record the broadcast output, which is required by law. It has RAID capability to provide constant backup. RAID means 2 disk drives are ‘mirrored’ so it can withstand one drive going wrong without losing the recorded data, so a replacement drive can go in place.
ABCOM Director Trevor Henry said; “It was an honour to meet the Mayor and the radio team as they connected to the community. Radio plays a significant role for community development and communication and we’re thrilled to be a part of this, by supporting them with a vital piece of equipment.”
BHCR broadcast to central and south Mid Sussex and keep listeners up to date with both national and local news and events.
As a local business we believe in supporting our local charities, organisations and groups and will continue to help these vital community initiatives where we can.
