News: Stronger, Smarter and Greener

Posted on 24th September 2020

At the recent Coast to Capital AGM, Jonathan Sharrock, C2C’s Chief Executive gave an interesting talk about how he sees economic recovery being achieved all summed up in the slogan “Stronger, Smarter and Greener.”

In terms of building back stronger it is clear that Jonathan sees Crawley and Gatwick as the main hubs and centre for global growth. In terms of building back smarter, Brighton & Hove in particular building upon the strong knowledge base of 3 universities along our south coast are seen as major enablers. While the 3rd stream, building back greener, is about helping to tackle climate change and growing the rural economy.

As to how the Stronger, Smarter and Greener banner will play out in Mid Sussex and Burgess Hill given our close connections to both Crawley & Gatwick and Brighton & Hove needs to be spelled out, but clearly there are synergies in the making given the sizeable C2C funding of the A2300 improvements and the longer term plans for a Burgess Hill based Science & Tech park.

Here are the slides from the AGM including Jonathan’s talk.

"As the local hospice for the area, it’s great that we receive so much support from the BHBPA. Last year the members raised an amazing £2150 through activities such as Bake Off and the BHBiz Awards. Each well planned members meeting enables good networking opportunities and speakers that are relevant to the present climate and local issues. We are proud to be members of BHBPA."

Wendy Agate, Community Fund Raising Manager
(St Peter & St James Hospice)

"“I can’t speak highly enough of the BHBPA. As a small local business we feel very much part of a community and thoroughly enjoy the annual exhibition and meetings throughout the year. Over the years we have built fantastic working relationships with many BHBPA members and every meeting and event offers us opportunities to work with more. This is networking at its best! ” "
