News: EU Settlement Scheme

I am writing on behalf of Citizens Advice in West Sussex and Mid Sussex District Council to give you some information about the Government’s EU Settlement scheme.

https://www.gov.uk/settled-status-eu-citizens-families

With the UK having left the EU and as we approach the end of the transition period, EU and EEA citizens and their family members have to apply to the EU settlement scheme if they want to stay in the UK.

Many people have already successfully applied to the scheme but a significant minority of people have not.

We are working in conjunction with Mid Sussex District Council to spread the word about the importance of applying to the scheme. The absolute deadline is 30th June 2021 but we are encouraging people to apply by 31st December 2020 as that is when a number of existing rights will change.

I hope that you will feel able to spread the word to your members so that they will pass it on to their staff and possibly their customers where it is relevant.

I have included a link to a short video that Citizens Advice in West Sussex has made to promote the scheme to local residents.

Thank you very much for any support you can provide with this. We have posters and leaflets available that I can send out. Please do contact me, and invite your members to contact me, if you would like further information.

Best regards

Testimonials

"As the local hospice for the area, it’s great that we receive so much support from the BHBPA. Last year the members raised an amazing £2150 through activities such as Bake Off and the BHBiz Awards. Each well planned members meeting enables good networking opportunities and speakers that are relevant to the present climate and local issues. We are proud to be members of BHBPA."

Wendy Agate, Community Fund Raising Manager
(St Peter & St James Hospice)

"Regular, well organised events, excellent updates and information by email along with a warm welcome from the Chair and Coordinator are just some of the positives at BHBPA."

Mike Oliver, Owner
(Mike Oliver Associates)

"This association was started with a lot of effort from a few local businessmen and has proved to be a very powerful and useful tool for our business. The BHBPA has influence at the top level; when action is needed, the BHBPA gets it done. We are kept in touch with all that is happening on our doorstep and will often act because of what is published in the weekly emails / newsletters."

Steve Mooney
(Steven Mooney Machinery)

"“Sutton Winson have been members of the BHBPA for around 7 years. We have found it a great way to keep in touch with Burgess Hill businesses and to meet with likeminded people. It’s not just another “networking” group, as it tackles the real issues and gets things done”"
