News: Grand Finale at Woolpack

Posted on 5th December 2019

Many thanks to all those who came along and contributed to my final event with the BHBPA last Tuesday at the Woolpack. I had a great evening, was treated like royalty and left just slightly the worse for wear clutching a mountain of gifts and cards.

I was picked up by my good friend Paul Shearing from home in Brighton and driven to the Woolpack, where we had arranged for Lance to provide some food for the expected throng. By 5.15 the place was buzzing and I was overwhelmed with good wishes and humbling compliments as the evening wore on.

Many of those who came even remembered to bring a toy for the More Radio/Travail Appeal for Christmas Toys and the pile of those grew steadily as people arrived. The generosity of members knows no bounds as people arrived with cards and gifts, all wishing me well and hoping to see me return on occasions for BHBPA events. I was honoured to be granted life membership of the BHBPA.  After managing to spout a few lines of jumbled speech through the microphone, I was able to move around chatting to those who had turned up for this Christmas celebration. It was a delight to speak to so many friendly faces whom I have come to know and respect among the BHBPA community.

My thanks go to all those who came along, who gave me cards and gifts and wished me well in the future.  I hope the BHBPA goes from strength to strength in the coming years and wish my replacement every success. This was an evening I shall never forget.

"This association was started with a lot of effort from a few local businessmen and has proved to be a very powerful and useful tool for our business. The BHBPA has influence at the top level; when action is needed, the BHBPA gets it done. We are kept in touch with all that is happening on our doorstep and will often act because of what is published in the weekly emails / newsletters."

"“I can’t speak highly enough of the BHBPA. As a small local business we feel very much part of a community and thoroughly enjoy the annual exhibition and meetings throughout the year. Over the years we have built fantastic working relationships with many BHBPA members and every meeting and event offers us opportunities to work with more. This is networking at its best! ” "

"If Carlsberg did networking they would do it the BHBPA way. Each event is packed with great ideas, thought provoking presentations and fun. As a small business we feel supported and part of the community. We have built friendships and business relationships and there is always plenty of advice on hand to benefit us all so don’t hesitate to join whatever the nature of your business. "
