WSCC Highways Winter Services

Posted on 31st December 2019

While global warming seems to be affecting our weather at an increasingly alarming rate, as we move into the depths of winter, the risk of snow and icy roads is still a real threat to carrying out normal business activities as well as personal safety. I have been sent a map (to be made available for viewing, along with the covered road names) in the early January 2020 newsletter) which shows the major roads around Burgess Hill (marked in green) and... read more

We have arranged to meet Richard Speller and Tim Boxall from WSCC as they are responsible for the Highways in the Mid Sussex area, on Thursday 9th January, along with representatives of some of the businesses most at risk... read more

Contacting Sussex Police

Posted on 31st December 2019

As part of my induction, I popped into the Burgess Hill police station in The Brow and asked for clarity on how members should contact the police under different circumstances – such as to highlight an incursion by travellers. FYI – details of gypsy and traveller sites are on WSCC web site. Call the County Council to notify them of any inappropriate incursions on 01243 642139, as well as the Police. Here’s how to contact Sussex Police: Option... read more

Here at ‘Team Travail’ we were overwhelmed by the response to the More Radio’s Toy Appeal! As a drop off point for toy donations we were heartened by the generosity shown both by members of the public and local businesses who wanted to show their support for this amazing initiative, which in turn supported local charities and families, across mid Sussex.    We’d like to say a huge “Thank You” to all those who supported Travail... read more

How many blue whales?

How many blue whales?

Posted on 13th December 2019

It’s been another busy year at BIO Productions (http://bio-productions.com) says Angela Gill. So far in 2019, we have filled 255,348 x 5L bottles – that’s 1,276,740L of product to be precise, or roughly 1.3 million litres. Or if you prefer, that’s enough to fill 3.6 million tea cups, 2.25 million pints of beer, or 16,000 baths. That’s a lot of liquid, and heavy too. Because 1 litre of water weighs 1 kg, it means we have produced the equivalent... read more

There’s also some comfortable desks with power sockets suitable for a bit of quiet work and a small area for 1... read more

Testimonials

"This association was started with a lot of effort from a few local businessmen and has proved to be a very powerful and useful tool for our business. The BHBPA has influence at the top level; when action is needed, the BHBPA gets it done. We are kept in touch with all that is happening on our doorstep and will often act because of what is published in the weekly emails / newsletters."

Steve Mooney

"As the local hospice for the area, it’s great that we receive so much support from the BHBPA. Last year the members raised an amazing £2150 through activities such as Bake Off and the BHBiz Awards. Each well planned members meeting enables good networking opportunities and speakers that are relevant to the present climate and local issues. We are proud to be members of BHBPA."

Wendy Agate, Community Fund Raising Manager
(St Peter & St James Hospice)

"As MP for Mid Sussex I believe passionately in the importance of a vibrant local business community in order to create and sustain fantastic opportunities that enable people to meet their responsibilities, prosper and fulfil their potential.
