Major Bike Ride Sponsor Gears Up for Autumn Event
Sussex IFA, Mike Oliver, principal of Mike Oliver Associates in Haywards Heath, took up the mantle of new chairman for the Greater Haywards Heath Bike Ride earlier this year. As major sponsors, the team at Mike Oliver Associates are now eagerly awaiting this iconic local cycling sportive in its new autumn slot on the weekend.
The Greater Haywards Heath Bike Ride is now in its ninth year. This year it will take place on Sunday 13th October – switched from its previous place in the spring calendar to an autumn event. Once again this year, the race will see four routes with well-spaced comfort breaks, feed stations and entertainment on The Broadway to welcome home the riders. It’s tipped to be a challenging ride for serious riders, exhilarating for weekend riders and a great day out for the whole family. Organisers hope the race will build on its record total of over £16,000 for last year.
For 2019, the Bike Ride’s chosen charity is the Dame Vera Lynn Children’s Charity (DVLCC), which supports children under five with cerebral palsy and other motor learning impairments to realise their full potential. The charity was created to give very special children a place where they can learn and thrive in a warm, supportive setting that understands their unique journey. Through its early intervention service and support network, the charity works alongside families to give their very young children the best possible start in life.
Principal Mike Oliver said: “This is one of the best charity events in the local area; it’s thrilling, rewarding and supports genuinely worthwhile causes. Competitors and spectators alike really get into the mood and there’s a fantastic sense of camaraderie throughout.”
“As a passionate cyclist myself, the event spans the best of both worlds, offering the opportunity to combine one of my favourite hobbies with fundraising. I would urge everyone to book a slot or pop along to lend their support to the riders.”

"If Carlsberg did networking they would do it the BHBPA way. Each event is packed with great ideas, thought provoking presentations and fun. As a small business we feel supported and part of the community. We have built friendships and business relationships and there is always plenty of advice on hand to benefit us all so don’t hesitate to join whatever the nature of your business. "
"“I have belonged to this group since I started my own business, Lea Graham Associates, in 1986. The association has been through several incarnations since then, but its most recent one, BHBPA, is by far the best.
It’s much more than just a networking group, although it is supremely good at that too. BHBPA is inclusive and friendly and acts like a mutual-support society. The events are stimulating, worthwhile and often great fun and I believe most members share this opinion.”"
"“Sutton Winson have been members of the BHBPA for around 7 years. We have found it a great way to keep in touch with Burgess Hill businesses and to meet with likeminded people. It’s not just another “networking” group, as it tackles the real issues and gets things done”"
"This association was started with a lot of effort from a few local businessmen and has proved to be a very powerful and useful tool for our business. The BHBPA has influence at the top level; when action is needed, the BHBPA gets it done. We are kept in touch with all that is happening on our doorstep and will often act because of what is published in the weekly emails / newsletters."
