Burgess Hill Company Bio-Productions shortlisted for two Gatwick Diamond Business Awards
Victoria Business Park in Burgess Hill-based Bio-Productions has been shortlisted in two categories for the 2019 Gatwick Diamond Business Awards.
The company, led by MD and local business advocate Angela Gill, are in the final three in both the Manufacturer of the Year and the Employer of the Year categories.
The Awards celebrate innovation and inspiration by companies who have made a significant contribution to the Gatwick Diamond region, recognised as one of the hothouse economies in the UK. The winners will be presented their awards by the comedian Marcus Brigstocke at the 11th Gatwick Diamond Business Awards dinner on the 21st March at the Effingham Park Hotel.
Bio-Productions formulates, tests and makes a range of award-winning, environmentally-friendly, industrial cleaning products which are exported around the world. In December 2014 a management buyout by three employees led by Angela Gill has led to both UK and international success.
MD Angela Gill is a member of the Burgess Hill Business Parks Steering Group and has spoken at a variety of business events on the important role of women in business, including at Burgess Hill Means Business in Burgess Hill earlier this year when she shared a platform with Rosemary French of the Gatwick Diamond Initiative. As an advocate of women in industry, Bio-Productions makes a direct contribution to the Gatwick Diamond economy via a £4 million turnover in Mid Sussex and by employing 37 local staff – who the management team regards as an extended family. She said, “We are delighted to have been recognised in two categories. This is in large part due to our dedicated and innovative team here in Burgess Hill who go above and beyond the call of duty in delivering for our customers.”
Bio Productions operates in the UK. Its markets include the UK, Ireland, Europe, India, South Korea, the Netherlands, Australia and Qatar.
It supplies its products to a range of customers from family run businesses through to multi-national corporations. Bio Productions offers its own branding as well as white label branding with secrecy agreements in place (mainly for export).
With contracts in place for decades with renewed contracts annually Bio-Productions demonstrates that even in these uncertain times a local company can make a significant contribution to the UK economy.
"This association was started with a lot of effort from a few local businessmen and has proved to be a very powerful and useful tool for our business. The BHBPA has influence at the top level; when action is needed, the BHBPA gets it done. We are kept in touch with all that is happening on our doorstep and will often act because of what is published in the weekly emails / newsletters."
"As the local hospice for the area, it’s great that we receive so much support from the BHBPA. Last year the members raised an amazing £2150 through activities such as Bake Off and the BHBiz Awards. Each well planned members meeting enables good networking opportunities and speakers that are relevant to the present climate and local issues. We are proud to be members of BHBPA."
"“I have belonged to this group since I started my own business, Lea Graham Associates, in 1986. The association has been through several incarnations since then, but its most recent one, BHBPA, is by far the best.
It’s much more than just a networking group, although it is supremely good at that too. BHBPA is inclusive and friendly and acts like a mutual-support society. The events are stimulating, worthwhile and often great fun and I believe most members share this opinion.”"
"The BHBPA is an energetic and vocal organisation that connects and empowers and informs the local business community acting as an effective conduit to local authority and other organisations. We are proud to be part of that community and the association."
