BHBPA Welcomes New Director on Board

BHBPA (Burgess Hill Business Parks Association) is delighted to announce the appointment of Jaffer Lokhandvala to its board of directors.

Newly appointed Jaffer, will join the organising committee of the BHBiz Awards, comprising five members and will take on the key role of liaising with the judges.

This year sees the second BHBiz Awards, which will take place at Brighton Amex Community Stadium on 10 May. This biennial event, debuted in 2017 with much fanfare. Its initial success guaranteed a future on the local awards stage.

BHBiz Awards is an award ceremony with a difference; it isn’t just about profits and order books – but the people behind them. Across twelve categories (four new ones for 2019), judges will recognise the achievements of employees from the top to the bottom of organisations for their contribution to the workplace and their community.

As founder and CEO of E-mpower.IT, which has been supplying managed IT services to local SMEs for 20 years, Jaffer, who is also an a ambassador for GDB (Gatwick Diamond Business), is passionate about the benefits of networking and the recognition awards can bring for businesses in the local area.

Jaffer’s appointment will see him bring a wealth of experience to the board of the BHBPA.

Having begun his career in the agricultural supply sector, he was appointed UK director of Burson Marsteller, part of the Young & Rubicam advertising group, working with clients world-wide on aligning company culture to the image portrayed of them in marketing campaigns.

He left in 1989 to found his own management consultancy, specialising in company culture and communication. But in 1999 with digital technology beginning to transform the way businesses worked and engaged, he founded managed IT solutions provider, E-mpower.IT.

“As a business we have a strong track record in supporting companies that are ambitious in their growth plans or already have a strong growth record,” says Jaffer. “A number of our clients started with us as one-man bands and have grown to become multi-million pound companies for whom we still provide outsourced IT services.

“So, I am very familiar with the issues faced by companies as they expand and prosper. As a director of BHBPA, I hope to use that experience to add value to the incredible work it already does on behalf of our business community.”

Testimonials

"“Sutton Winson have been members of the BHBPA for around 7 years. We have found it a great way to keep in touch with Burgess Hill businesses and to meet with likeminded people. It’s not just another “networking” group, as it tackles the real issues and gets things done”"

Bruce Millington, Manager
(Sutton Winson Ltd)

"“I have belonged to this group since I started my own business, Lea Graham Associates, in 1986. The association has been through several incarnations since then, but its most recent one, BHBPA, is by far the best.

It’s much more than just a networking group, although it is supremely good at that too. BHBPA is inclusive and friendly and acts like a mutual-support society. The events are stimulating, worthwhile and often great fun and I believe most members share this opinion.”"

Susan Fleet, Managing Director
(Lea Graham Associates)

"As the local hospice for the area, it’s great that we receive so much support from the BHBPA. Last year the members raised an amazing £2150 through activities such as Bake Off and the BHBiz Awards. Each well planned members meeting enables good networking opportunities and speakers that are relevant to the present climate and local issues. We are proud to be members of BHBPA."

Wendy Agate, Community Fund Raising Manager
(St Peter & St James Hospice)

"This association was started with a lot of effort from a few local businessmen and has proved to be a very powerful and useful tool for our business. The BHBPA has influence at the top level; when action is needed, the BHBPA gets it done. We are kept in touch with all that is happening on our doorstep and will often act because of what is published in the weekly emails / newsletters."
