Apprentices celebrate success
Over seventy newly qualified plumbers, gas engineers and electricians from Burgess Hill’s Steve Willis Training Centres were joined by their families and employers at the 2018 Apprenticeship Graduation Evening this week.
Held at the Kings Centre, it was a chance to celebrate their hard work and to mark the completion of their gas, plumbing and electrical apprenticeships with the presentation of certificates and several special recognition awards including Apprentice of the Year in each trade.
This year Steve Willis Training Centres were not just giving out the prizes, as the company has recently been awarded Highly Commended in the prestigious City & Guilds Training Centre of the Year Lion Awards. Megann McKinnon from City & Guilds came down from London to present the trophy.
There was also a charity auction and raffle, raising over £500 for Burgess Hill Youth, with prizes including a Porsche Driving Experience at Silverstone donated by Porsche Centre Mid-Sussex.
Almost 200 people enjoyed the celebration, including the Town Mayor of Burgess Hill and leading industry representatives from companies including Worcester-Bosch who sponsored the individual awards.
Managing Director Steve Willis commented: “Our apprenticeship training is going from strength to strength, and I am delighted to see our highest ever number of apprentices graduating this year. I wish them well as they continue their careers.”
Steve Willis Training Centres has over 17 years’ experience in gas, plumbing and electrical training.

"I am delighted to have a long-standing relationship with the BHBPA. Since its foundation the Association has gone from strength to strength and there is no doubt that it has brought huge benefits to its members and the business community as a whole through the partnerships it has formed with the local authorities, Sussex Police and local organisations. It is paramount that Burgess Hill businesses have an effective collective voice."
"This association was started with a lot of effort from a few local businessmen and has proved to be a very powerful and useful tool for our business. The BHBPA has influence at the top level; when action is needed, the BHBPA gets it done. We are kept in touch with all that is happening on our doorstep and will often act because of what is published in the weekly emails / newsletters."
"The BHBPA is an energetic and vocal organisation that connects and empowers and informs the local business community acting as an effective conduit to local authority and other organisations. We are proud to be part of that community and the association."
