News: Mike Paddles Round the Pier

Posted on 27th June 2018

Sussex IFA Mike Oliver Associates has been announced as a key sponsor for Brighton and Hove’s July watersports festival, Paddle Round the Pier.

From their humble beginnings in 1996, Paddle Round the Pier now attracts more than 50,000 visitors while maintaining a ‘surfs up’ attitude and sustainable ethos.

The festival will host a number of watersports activities from kayaking and paddleboarding to the 2.5k Palace to Paddle Swim, where participants will race around both Brighton Palace Pier and West Pier.

Paddle Round the Pier has raised more than £300,000 for charity, with last year’s earnings going to charities, The Wave Project, the Royal National Lifeboat Institution and the Brighton Surf Life Saving Club.

The Haywards Heath firm of independent financial advisers are no strangers to sports charity fundraisers, having lent their support to similar community events in the past. These include the recent Brussels2Brighton Bike Ride and the Lions Club Swimarathon.

“I am honoured to support this world-class event.” Principal Mike Oliver said, “A key part of what we do at Mike Oliver Associates is connecting with the local community, and events like these are important part of doing just that.”

The Paddle Round the Pier festival takes place on July 7th and 8th at Hove Lawns. There will be live music and informative talks for those cheering on the participants.

Testimonials

"The BHBPA is the most effective and dynamic business organisation I have ever worked with in over 30 years in Local Government. It has a very active and large membership whose points of view are taken seriously by all government structures. Peter Liddell does an excellent job in providing unique and enjoyable networking opportunities where members interact and discuss points of mutual interest. It provides a forum for businesses to discuss common issues, to share experiences and to play a powerful and meaningful role in the Burgess Hill community. The BHBPA provides important and credible support for all its members and ensures that their best interests are represented where necessary. "

"I am delighted to have a long-standing relationship with the BHBPA. Since its foundation the Association has gone from strength to strength and there is no doubt that it has brought huge benefits to its members and the business community as a whole through the partnerships it has formed with the local authorities, Sussex Police and local organisations. It is paramount that Burgess Hill businesses have an effective collective voice."

The Hon Nicholas Soames MP

"“I can’t speak highly enough of the BHBPA. As a small local business we feel very much part of a community and thoroughly enjoy the annual exhibition and meetings throughout the year. Over the years we have built fantastic working relationships with many BHBPA members and every meeting and event offers us opportunities to work with more. This is networking at its best! ” "
