News: BHMB18 – A Roaring Success

Posted on 8th May 2018

On Friday last the BHBPA once again presented an exhibition, the ninth in all, at The King’s Centre in Victoria Road, in the heart of the Victoria Business Park in Burgess Hill. Representing the best of business in Mid Sussex, the exhibition featured 71 companies, a mixture of large and small, including manufacturers, logistics, printers, IT specialists and many other types as well.

From the official opening at 11am by Rosemary French, the Executive Director of Gatwick Diamond Initiative until the BHBPA Coordinator called a halt at 3pm, the hall was filled with a wonderful networking hubbub as business people went about their business. The start was enlivened by 50 students from The Burgess Hill Academy armed with question sheets to encourage them to engage with business folk. The kids started out rather reserved and a little shy, reluctant to speak, but an hour later they were bedecked with every kind of freebie, scoffing ice creams, sausage rolls and cakes and loaded down with bags of pens, mugs and every type of advertising gadget.

The day settled down with a steady stream of visitors; three powerful business women gave their stories of a business life; Garry Perkins gave us some first aid training.  At lunchtime, Garry Wall, Leader of Mid Sussex Council, came to visit, spent time going around the stands among exhibitors, speaking to many, and then gave us a short but incredibly encouraging speech.  He spoke very positively about the BHBPA, congratulating us on another impressive exhibition, and promised more good news for Burgess Hill in an announcement in the next fortnight.

It was a remarkably successful day. We are grateful to all those too many to mention who helped to bring about this event. Biggest thanks go to The King’s Church for the use of their fabulous facility and to the small committee of Emily Darnell, PVL, Esther Dawson, Ridgeview and Susan Fleet of Lea Graham Associates for their brilliant creativity and organisational skills.

"The BHBPA is the most effective and dynamic business organisation I have ever worked with in over 30 years in Local Government. It has a very active and large membership whose points of view are taken seriously by all government structures. Peter Liddell does an excellent job in providing unique and enjoyable networking opportunities where members interact and discuss points of mutual interest. It provides a forum for businesses to discuss common issues, to share experiences and to play a powerful and meaningful role in the Burgess Hill community. The BHBPA provides important and credible support for all its members and ensures that their best interests are represented where necessary. "
