British Powerlifting Gold for Aneela!
Rose Media Group agency owner Aneela Rose is thrilled to have won first place at the 2017 Great British Powerlifting Championships held in Welwyn Garden City last weekend. Competing in 3 separate lifts: Squat, Bench Press and Deadlift, Aneela scored the highest in her category to come first and become a British Champion Powerlifter!
Powerlifting is a strength sport judged on lifting as much weight possible for one repetition. This year, Aneela set herself a personal goal to follow an intense 8 week diet to reduce her body weight from 56kg (8.8 stone) to 52kg (8.1 stone) whilst also increasing her strength. Working with her personal trainer, Sara (the current British female powerlifting champion) and bodybuilding nutritionist, Will, Aneela successfully weighed in at 51.9kg at the competition.
Although it was very tough, and failing a few lifts under the competition pressure, Aneela got her head in the game and with support from family and other competitors, she managed to pull through and lift the numbers she needed. An exhausted but very happy Aneela is now eating for England and looking forward to sticking her face into chocolate cake at Christmas!
Aneela will be revisiting her passion for javelin throwing next season – watch this space for her spear news!
