‘Winning Workplace’ for Burgess Hill insurers
Bennett Christmas Insurance Brokers scored a victory last week as it took home an award at the inaugural BHBiz Awards, which recognise outstanding achievements in the local business community.
The insurance company beat off stiff competition to be named ‘Winning Workplace’ at the event, which was staged by the Burgess Hill Business Parks Association (BHBPA).
Judges Gordon Reay, Grant Ashley, and Mayor of Burgess Hill Jacqui Landriani said that Bennett Christmas received the accolade due to its recent innovations. The company boasts an exceptionally low staff turnover despite a recent rebranding, and directors have also introduced a Futures Board where younger employees can put forward their own business ideas.
“We were thrilled to win this award,” said David Christmas, Managing Director. “We’ve won some national insurance awards before but this was special for the entire team because it came from the local business community that we’re so proud to be a part of. We all love working together in the office and I’m glad it shows!”
The ‘Winning Workplace’ award was sponsored by Mid Sussex business First Recruitment Services. The event took place at the Amex Community Stadium, home to Brighton & Hove Albion FC, on Friday 5 May.
"“I have belonged to this group since I started my own business, Lea Graham Associates, in 1986. The association has been through several incarnations since then, but its most recent one, BHBPA, is by far the best.
It’s much more than just a networking group, although it is supremely good at that too. BHBPA is inclusive and friendly and acts like a mutual-support society. The events are stimulating, worthwhile and often great fun and I believe most members share this opinion.”"
"As the local hospice for the area, it’s great that we receive so much support from the BHBPA. Last year the members raised an amazing £2150 through activities such as Bake Off and the BHBiz Awards. Each well planned members meeting enables good networking opportunities and speakers that are relevant to the present climate and local issues. We are proud to be members of BHBPA."
"The BHBPA is an energetic and vocal organisation that connects and empowers and informs the local business community acting as an effective conduit to local authority and other organisations. We are proud to be part of that community and the association."
"This association was started with a lot of effort from a few local businessmen and has proved to be a very powerful and useful tool for our business. The BHBPA has influence at the top level; when action is needed, the BHBPA gets it done. We are kept in touch with all that is happening on our doorstep and will often act because of what is published in the weekly emails / newsletters."
