News: About Sussex Gritting Services Ltd

Posted on 7th December 2016

Earlier this year we had an application to join the BHBPA from ‘Sussex Gritting Services’.  They signed up and became members in June. I spoke to the owner, Piers Bryant, recently, a lovely bloke who is keen to offer help if needed during winter weather. You can read about his service below and decide if you need to contact him for more information as we approach the mid-winter period.

Sussex Gritting Services is an established gritting and snow clearing company based just outside Burgess Hill.

Since 2006 SGS have grown their business based on reputation and recommendation.

Despite the milder winter last year, we are seeing an increase in businesses taking out gritting and snow clearing contracts. No retaining fees mean that if we are not needed, you don’t pay.

SGS work closely with your business to understand your needs and your budget.

Using Met Office technology, forecasts are monitored on a daily basis throughout the winter season.  If RST (Road Surface Temperatures) fall below freezing you will be advised that the service is activated.  Further detail about the forecast will be provided to your chosen contacts by email.  The gritting team will then use appropriate vehicles and equipment to grit your premises outside of your normal working hours or at a time that is most convenient to you.

If for any reason you wish to stand the service down on a particular night (this may be due to site specific reasons or residual salt levels), provided you notify us of this by the cut off time shown in your email, then no charge will be made for the service.  Many of SGS’s customers find this a useful service that other companies don’t always offer.

In the event of snow, SGS are available day or night to clear your premises. We operate a fleet of 25 large snow clearing machines.  We work closely with each business and are in regular contact throughout the snowfall to discuss clearing your site.

The ethos of SGS is to give customers peace of mind by providing a highly efficient and cost effective gritting / snow clearing service throughout the winter months.

"I am delighted to have a long-standing relationship with the BHBPA. Since its foundation the Association has gone from strength to strength and there is no doubt that it has brought huge benefits to its members and the business community as a whole through the partnerships it has formed with the local authorities, Sussex Police and local organisations. It is paramount that Burgess Hill businesses have an effective collective voice."

The Hon Nicholas Soames MP

"The BHBPA is the most effective and dynamic business organisation I have ever worked with in over 30 years in Local Government. It has a very active and large membership whose points of view are taken seriously by all government structures. Peter Liddell does an excellent job in providing unique and enjoyable networking opportunities where members interact and discuss points of mutual interest. It provides a forum for businesses to discuss common issues, to share experiences and to play a powerful and meaningful role in the Burgess Hill community. The BHBPA provides important and credible support for all its members and ensures that their best interests are represented where necessary. "
