Three generations of the Roberts family of Ridgeview celebrate their success
The Family Business of the Year Awards are organised by FBU are now in their fourth year, these awards recognise the diversity, strength and depth of family firms across the UK and seek to highlight the contribution that family firms make to the UK economy. Open to family firms of all generations, sizes and sectors, these awards really do recognise some outstanding family firms and really help to put family businesses on the map. Judged by a panel of experts from the world of family business advising together with a group of family business representatives, the awards are well respected and sought after accolades.
As Paul Andrews, Founder and Managing Director of Family Business United (‘FBU’) explains,
“Ridgeview is a relatively young family business compared to some of the other finalists but their passion, drive and dedication as pioneers in their sector shone through against some stiff competition. The judges were impressed with the long term view that the business has taken since its inception, strong family values and growth underpinned by their pioneering attitude, integrity and passion for all things sparkling wine. They represent a great British family firm based that truly deserve all the plaudits that winning this award brings.”
Richard Lane, Partner at Farrer & Co Connell who sponsored the awards added, “We were delighted to sponsor the London & South East Family Business of the Year Award which resulted in a great winner and ambassador for the sector. Ridgeview is a great family firm with a good heritage, strong family values and a bright future.”
“Since their foundation in 1995 they have continued to grow as a business and to develop award winning products and a good export market too. Family values and strong provenance are integral to the brand and they have never lost sight of their family vision which has undoubtedly contributed to their success, a vision created by their founder Mike Roberts who was awarded an MBE for his services to English Wine in 2013. Worthy winners, the last 20 years have been quite a journey for the Roberts family and we look forward to hearing more great things from them in the generations to come.”
The awards process concluded at a Gala Reception and awards ceremony that took place in London at the prestigious May Fair Hotel in London on June 2 where all the winners were crowned.
""BHBPA is a really well organised and run group, great for networking and benefitting from knowledgeable local speakers with real business insight. Peter brings enthusiasm and humour which helps drive the association forward. I am glad to be part of it.""
"I am delighted to have a long-standing relationship with the BHBPA. Since its foundation the Association has gone from strength to strength and there is no doubt that it has brought huge benefits to its members and the business community as a whole through the partnerships it has formed with the local authorities, Sussex Police and local organisations. It is paramount that Burgess Hill businesses have an effective collective voice."
"“Sutton Winson have been members of the BHBPA for around 7 years. We have found it a great way to keep in touch with Burgess Hill businesses and to meet with likeminded people. It’s not just another “networking” group, as it tackles the real issues and gets things done”"
"If Carlsberg did networking they would do it the BHBPA way. Each event is packed with great ideas, thought provoking presentations and fun. As a small business we feel supported and part of the community. We have built friendships and business relationships and there is always plenty of advice on hand to benefit us all so don’t hesitate to join whatever the nature of your business. "
