News: Mid Sussex PAs Newsletter

Posted on 23rd March 2016

Thank you to everyone who attended the last event at Gravetye Manor on the 1st March.  We hope you enjoyed yourself as much as we did and also found the presentation on how to support your boss with HR issues useful.  A big thank you to Caroline for her excellent presentation and also to Gravetye for hosting our event.  What a beautiful venue that is and we hope you enjoyed your tour of the hotel.

Date for our next event

We have finalised the details for our next event.  It will be on Tuesday 31st May from 5pm to 7pm at Alexander House Hotel in Turners Hill.  A gorgeous five-star boutique country house hotel with award winning spa.  We are thrilled that they have agreed to host our next event and would like to thank them for their support.  Delicious canapes will be served along with wonderful sparkling wine provided by Ridgeview.

There will be a presentation on tips for “Event Planning” and details of the speaker will follow shortly.  Please click on this link to book yourself on and please feel free to forward our details on to anyone else that you think would like to come along.  The speaker will start around 5.45pm so don’t worry if you can’t get there for 5pm… we’ll wait for you!

Raffle Prize at Alexander House

Esther went along to the launch of a book in January called “The A-Z Pearls of Wisdom for Executive PAs” by Lindsay Taylor of Your Excellency.  Lindsay has now kindly offered to give Mid Sussex PAs a complimentary copy of her book to our group and we have decided to offer this as a raffle prize at our meeting in May.  The book retails at £12.99 (or £8.99 on Kindle) and you can read the excellent reviews of the book here on Amazon where you can also purchase it if you’re not successful!  You can follow Lindsay on Twitter @Your_Excellency

Save the Date – our 1st Birthday Summer BBQ

We are pleased to have been able to secure a venue for our 1st Birthday celebrations, with a summer evening BBQ at another stunning venue in Sussex.  Please do keep the evening of Tuesday 12th July free and more details will be available at the beginning of June!

We are pleased to announce that we have now 214 followers on Twitter and 37 members in our LinkedIn Group… James Dempster from Cobb Digital, our speaker from Ockenden Manor will be so proud!  He designed our new logo for us too!

Office 2016* Training Sessions

At our meeting at Gravetye Manor a question was asked about training for PAs & EAs and Sarah from the Office* Show mentioned that there are very reasonably priced dedicated training sessions available at the show in May.  This is a link to the downloadable seminar schedule.

Even if you’re not going for the training don’t forget to book your place for Office*  You can register here and Emily & I will be attending on Thursday 12th.  We’d love for you to travel up with us or we can meet-up with you, up there.  Let us know.

If you are going to register, could we kindly ask that on the question regarding PA networking groups that you tick the box for Regional PA Networks and type in Mid Sussex PAs, to help raise awareness of our group J

We would both like to take the opportunity to thank you all for your support with the group and we look forward to seeing you at our next event in May.

"As MP for Mid Sussex I believe passionately in the importance of a vibrant local business community in order to create and sustain fantastic opportunities that enable people to meet their responsibilities, prosper and fulfil their potential. I am committed to collaborating with BHBPA and others to be an effective collective voice for Burgess Hill."

Mims Davies MP, Member of Parliament for Mid Sussex

"As the local hospice for the area, it’s great that we receive so much support from the BHBPA. Last year the members raised an amazing £2150 through activities such as Bake Off and the BHBiz Awards. Each well planned members meeting enables good networking opportunities and speakers that are relevant to the present climate and local issues. We are proud to be members of BHBPA."

Wendy Agate, Community Fund Raising Manager
(St Peter & St James Hospice)

"The BHBPA is the most effective and dynamic business organisation I have ever worked with in over 30 years in Local Government. It has a very active and large membership whose points of view are taken seriously by all government structures. Peter Liddell does an excellent job in providing unique and enjoyable networking opportunities where members interact and discuss points of mutual interest. It provides a forum for businesses to discuss common issues, to share experiences and to play a powerful and meaningful role in the Burgess Hill community. The BHBPA provides important and credible support for all its members and ensures that their best interests are represented where necessary. "

Steve Cridland, CEO
(Burgess Hill Town Council)

"This association was started with a lot of effort from a few local businessmen and has proved to be a very powerful and useful tool for our business. The BHBPA has influence at the top level; when action is needed, the BHBPA gets it done. We are kept in touch with all that is happening on our doorstep and will often act because of what is published in the weekly emails / newsletters."
