News: Hospice Needs Volunteers

Posted on 11th February 2016

We will support you and those important to you to live well towards the end of life by giving compassion, hope and quality care.

Our vision –

We want to make a positive difference to the experience of everybody in our community who faces death or bereavement, by offering choice and support through our expert care, knowledge and understanding.

Our values

Nurturing – care for whole families and each other

Professional – strive for excellence, learn from our mistakes and celebrate success

Unified – work as one team with one vision

Transparent – act with integrity and honesty at all times

Empowering – encourage innovation, support personal and organisational development

We care for patients from Burgess Hill, Haywards Heath, Lewes, Uckfield and the surrounding villages. Last year, we provided care for more than 600 patients and their families. All of our Hospice services are free of charge and we receive less than 14% of our funding from the Government. This means we rely on our local community for providing 86% of our funding and have to raise more than £2.6 million every year through fundraising. That’s £7,200 every single day.

If you are interested in working or volunteering at St Peter & St James, please contact Human Resources on 01444 471598 or visit www.stpeter-stjames.org.uk.

Testimonials

"“Sutton Winson have been members of the BHBPA for around 7 years. We have found it a great way to keep in touch with Burgess Hill businesses and to meet with likeminded people. It’s not just another “networking” group, as it tackles the real issues and gets things done”"

Bruce Millington, Manager
(Sutton Winson Ltd)

"The BHBPA is an energetic and vocal organisation that connects and empowers and informs the local business community acting as an effective conduit to local authority and other organisations. We are proud to be part of that community and the association."

Nick Broom, Managing Director
(PVL UK Ltd)

"If Carlsberg did networking they would do it the BHBPA way. Each event is packed with great ideas, thought provoking presentations and fun. As a small business we feel supported and part of the community. We have built friendships and business relationships and there is always plenty of advice on hand to benefit us all so don’t hesitate to join whatever the nature of your business. "

Angela Gill, Managing Director
(Bio Productions Ltd)

"“I have belonged to this group since I started my own business, Lea Graham Associates, in 1986. The association has been through several incarnations since then, but its most recent one, BHBPA, is by far the best.

It’s much more than just a networking group, although it is supremely good at that too. BHBPA is inclusive and friendly and acts like a mutual-support society. The events are stimulating, worthwhile and often great fun and I believe most members share this opinion.”"

Susan Fleet, Managing Director
(Lea Graham Associates)
