Grant Ashley, the man who started International Logistics Group and has run it as CEO for the last 25 years, has retired from the company through a management buyout. Mike Stephenson, MD, and four members of the management team have acquired the business. Grant was also a founder member and Chairman of the BHBPA in its early days, and has been associated with business in Burgess Hill and Gatwick for many years.
ILG has grown to become a market leader in fulfilment and international delivery services with a growing specialism in the fashion and beauty sector. Commenting on the buyout, Mike Stephenson said, “we are committed to growing the business in Sussex and neighbouring counties and to continuing to provide first class services to local businesses”
Grant told me this week that he is well, and trying to adjust to not having a business to run after 25 years. He is “looking at some new opportunities so with that in mind if you have any members who need some support, advice, a project, a Non Exec role or anything else broadly interesting or exciting please feel free to promote me!” Now there’s a useful man to consult for advice about running a business!
We wish Grant good luck with his new ventures and of course we hope to retain ILG as valued members of the BHBPA.
"Regular, well organised events, excellent updates and information by email along with a warm welcome from the Chair and Coordinator are just some of the positives at BHBPA."
"As MP for Mid Sussex I believe passionately in the importance of a vibrant local business community in order to create and sustain fantastic opportunities that enable people to meet their responsibilities, prosper and fulfil their potential. I am committed to collaborating with BHBPA and others to be an effective collective voice for Burgess Hill."
"This association was started with a lot of effort from a few local businessmen and has proved to be a very powerful and useful tool for our business. The BHBPA has influence at the top level; when action is needed, the BHBPA gets it done. We are kept in touch with all that is happening on our doorstep and will often act because of what is published in the weekly emails / newsletters."
"The BHBPA is an energetic and vocal organisation that connects and empowers and informs the local business community acting as an effective conduit to local authority and other organisations. We are proud to be part of that community and the association."
