News: Local Charity Recognises Local Business

Posted on 28th October 2015

In 2012 Steve Willis Training Centres answered an appeal in the local BHBPA newsletter for a company to sponsor a local charity, Burgess Hill Youth. A charity run predominently for 8 to 20 year olds, offering a range of recreational and educational activities including a pool table, arts and craft and a floodlit multi-use games area for football, basketball and tennis to name just a few!

Three years later Steve Willis Training Centres were officially presented with a ‘Certificate of Appreciation’ by Tony Parris and Paul Myles from Burgess Hill Youth. Managing Director, Steve Willis, was also awarded ‘Patron of Burgess Hill Youth‘. Tony, Chairman of Burgess Hill Youth stated, “We wanted to acknowledge the support and generosity of both the company and the MD, and felt it only fitting to pay tribute to Steve by asking him to be our Patron.”
To date, Steve Willis Training Centres – who specialise in Gas, Plumbing and Electrical Short Courses and Apprenticeships, have raised over £7,000 for Burgess Hill Youth. They were also instrumental in arranging for a new heating system to be installed at their premises in 2014. Steve Willis commented “It’s a great honour to be awarded Patron of Burgess Hill Youth and be presented with a Certificate of Achievement. I am very pleased we have managed to raise so much money for this great charity. I have first-hand experience of Burgess Hill Youth (then Burgess Hill Boys Club), when I was younger, I appreciated the benefits of having somewhere to go and spend my time which kept me out of mischief. It’s good to be able to make a difference and I look forward to continuing to support this worthwhile charity.”

Testimonials

"“We have been members of BHBPA from its inception, and seen the organisation steadily grow and expand into the dynamic entity it is today, bringing positive benefits to all its members.""

Peter Hook, Manager
(Computer Systems Engineers)

"The BHBPA is the most effective and dynamic business organisation I have ever worked with in over 30 years in Local Government. It has a very active and large membership whose points of view are taken seriously by all government structures. Peter Liddell does an excellent job in providing unique and enjoyable networking opportunities where members interact and discuss points of mutual interest. It provides a forum for businesses to discuss common issues, to share experiences and to play a powerful and meaningful role in the Burgess Hill community. The BHBPA provides important and credible support for all its members and ensures that their best interests are represented where necessary. "

Steve Cridland, CEO
(Burgess Hill Town Council)

"This association was started with a lot of effort from a few local businessmen and has proved to be a very powerful and useful tool for our business. The BHBPA has influence at the top level; when action is needed, the BHBPA gets it done. We are kept in touch with all that is happening on our doorstep and will often act because of what is published in the weekly emails / newsletters."

Steve Mooney

"Regular, well organised events, excellent updates and information by email along with a warm welcome from the Chair and Coordinator are just some of the positives at BHBPA."
