Excellent Inspection Result
Press Release
3rd March 2010
The staff and volunteers at St Peter & St James Hospice & Continuing Care Centre are celebrating following the successful outcome of their recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission (formerly known as the Healthcare Commission). The Commission is the regulatory body for all healthcare providers and carries out routine inspections at least every 5 years.
The Commission undertook an extremely thorough inspection in January and reviewed St Peter & St James’ compliance with a selection of Core Standards and Hospice Standards. They have given the hospice a ‘resounding clean bill of health’, with all the standards that they inspected being assessed as fully met and with no requirement for any actions to be undertaken. The lead Inspector also took the opportunity to comment on how impressed she was with the whole organisation and stated that she felt there was a really good atmosphere. She found that the staff were keen to speak openly to her and got a real sense of the fact that people enjoy working at St Peter & St James. The cleanliness of the environment and satisfaction of our patients were also highlighted. Colin Burgess, Chief Executive, said ‘All of our team of staff and volunteers should be justifiably proud of this excellent outcome which reflects their professionalism and concern for the well being of all those for whom we provide care’.
The full report can be obtained from the Hospice or through the Care Quality Commission.
