Burgess Hill Means Business
Several weeks ago in this newsletter you may have read that we intend to put on an exhibition of Business in Burgess Hill in the New Year. A committee of interested members has met and come up with the following ideas/plans. Please read through them and let me know if you can add anything or if you agree/disagree strongly with anything and/or have better suggestions. We are open to suggestion...
- The exhibition would be at the Martlets Hall and there would be little or no cost to businesses.
- The date would be Friday 8th May, from 9.30-4.30, and it would be followed by a drinks reception.
- Sponsors already pledged include...
MSDC - hire of Martlets Hall
BHTC - refreshments
Preview - poster/flyer design advertisement
Quentin Press -printing
Lea Graham - PR
- Other sponsors would be welcome, eg for prize draw or wine
- All local business VIPs, including town councillors will be invited to attend
- BH Chamber of Commerce will be invited to take part
- Local school leavers will be invited to attend in the afternoon
- Five-minute, one-to-one consultations could be arranged with business reps for school leavers interested in a particular career path.
- Nicholas Soames might come along and give a short speech, as might others to hold mini seminars on eg sales and marketing, business growth, surviving the downturn, HR, Insurance and IT.
- Seminars could be held upstairs in the Sheldrake Suite.
- Local traders might supply prizes for the draw at the end.
This is an idea that is full of potential, and we would like to see a packed Martlets in May to show off as many as possible of the businesses of Burgess Hill. The ideas above are the first thoughts of the group from BHBPA who are leading this fantastic notion, and we now want you to give your suggestions about any of this.
Please contact me with ideas and let me know what you think about the exhibition idea per se. It could be a great day for networking, for recruitment and for displaying what you do in your business to a large number of others who are currently unaware.
If you can get involved, so much the better, even if only to sponsor some part of it.
