parking on the business parks

Should we go for yellow lines or some other managed parking system?

Re: parking on the business parks

My factory is at 65 Victoria Road. I need to gain access at the Eastern End to visit customers and suppliers every working day and the current situation is very inconvenient verging on the dangerous.
It is not only the parking that is a problem but also the loading of Keymer Double Glazing vans in the mornings. Having negotiated the parked cars there are upto 5 vans parked just around the corner loading the double glazing parts for the day's work.
Most companies in Victoria Road could cope with an extra 1 or 2 cars parked on-site. We have space for 1 non-Cirrus car but they need to walk down to the other end of Victoria Road.
Companies with inadequate parking could use a mini bus to collect employees from home in Burgess Hill.
Keymer Double Glazing could stagger their loading of vans in the morning at 8am so that the space in their yard for 1 van could be the van loading. All of their drivers would need allocated arrival times and once loaded the van must then pull-away and depart to it's double glazing replacement location.
We have double yellow lines outside of our factory, however, we unload large trucks in the road over double yellow lines since our yard is too small to unload modern large trucks. We do not have vehicle access problems at the Western end on Victoria Road so maybe double yellow lines in the rest of Victoria Road and all of Victoria Way would keep things moving.
We must understand that Victoria Road and Victoria Way Industrial Units were built in the 1960's when everyone walked or cycled to work, car parks were not needed, trucks were no bigger than today's large vans, thats the start of the problem.
Now employees travel large distances to work. There are 15 of us working at Cirrus Laser.
I live at Plumpton, 3 live in Brighton, 1 lives in Seaford, 1 in Tonbridge Kent, 1 in Battle, 8 live in Burgess Hill.
One of my employees who lives in Brighton rides a racing bike to work every day and back home again. One Burgess Hill employee walks from Sheddingdean to be healthier. One employee uses a Taxi because she doesn't drive, everyone else uses a car! Thats why we have a parking problem in Victoria Road and Victoria Way.

Re: parking on the business parks

I wish there was some way of publicising the planned / potential changes to the parking system, whether it is restictions or rollout of yellow lines throughout, to the wider audience.

My fear is that the valued newsletter and updates from Peter only get as far as the business owners and principles on the parks, but the main people affected by such changes as this (or opportunities!) are actually blissfully unaware of them!

Could I urge each of you to forward the newsletter around your organisation or include the items in your weekly meetings or agendas?

In this case it is a significant matter that could have far-reaching consequences for some businesses who struggle to accomodate parking for their staff, and may affect recruitment or retention in the future. However, other opportunities and developments, such as the link road, the new hotel and so on, could possibly be assisted by more people knowing about them.

There's power in the community and there's a HUGE potential community / network of people working around the business parks, it makes sense to share the efforts and intentions of the BHBPA (and wider associations) with as broad an audience as possible!) to get the best for everyone.
