The "Workplace Parking Levy Scheme" comes in to place next year whereby companies with 10 or more car parking spaces can be charged a tax of £350.00 per space. Nottingham City Council yesterday became the first council to apply for this charge.
Can businesses afford to pay this charge?
Or will they be forced to pass this charge on to staff?
Will staff then find alternative places to park and will this cause further congestion?
Is this a reasonable charge to pay to "Reduce Congestion"?
It will be up to each individual Council to decide whether or not to implement this scheme and with increasing funding pressure from central government will Mid Sussex adopt this scheme?
Perhaps now is the time for us collectively to start lobbying Mid Sussex for their views and intentions?

This sounds like a bargain, compared to the imminent daily parking rate rise for Cyprus Road car park.
100% up from £2 to £4 per day.
So 5 days per week x 47, allowing for holidays, is £940 per annum.
What a great idea to increase taxation on workers and companies in a time of recession!
